Litchfield is full of lush Savannah Woodlands and there are many waterfalls large and small, each of which have a rock pool which you can dip or swim in.
We tour in Litchfield from March to October, when the waterfalls are full of water and swimming is possible in the pools.
From November to February, peak Wet Season, the water levels can be too high and currents too strong for swimming.
Seasonal conditions can affect access to swimming areas, at any time. Wangi Falls is generally closed for swimming until the end of May, but Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole are generally accessible all year round.
Wangi Falls is a stunning twin waterfall and there is a boarded loop walk through the surrounding Monsoon Forest, so we still visit there on our day tour throughout the Season.
Florence Falls is a teaming waterfall with a large, deep swimming hole, set against some smaller shallow pools. The water here is refreshing on our tropical sunny days and the rocks provide spots to sit and dip your feet.
The Florence Creek flows into Buley Rockhole creating a cascading trail of different sized springs and waterfalls, each pouring into shallow and deep rock pools. The rocky banks provide perches to immerse yourself into the water and lounging areas to sit and relax.
We typically spend an hour at each location, which you can spend, bushwalking, swimming or relaxing.
