Our tour guide Nifty (Neville) made our trip extra special, with such knowledgeable commentary for both adults and children to learn from. Always so organised and helpful, he was happy to answer questions and interact with the tour group of school children and their parents and played a great selection of music. Offroad Dreaming took us to Florence Falls, Edith Falls, Litchfield, Mataranka, Darwin and the Adelaide River. Highly recommend Nifty and Offroad Dreaming.
Last week my daughter and I returned from an 8 day school trip from Darwin, to Katharine and Mataranka – Neville (“Nifty”) was both our driver and one of a team of guides. Neville was a hugely knowledgeable guide, with a wonderful turn of phrase, great humour, a hugely engaging style for adults and children alike. He shared in-depth knowledge with us about the land, the history, the local people, flaura and fauna, cololuful local characters and Aboriginal culture and history. He was charming, helpful, amusing and just an all-round top guide and top guy. The whole week was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and Nifty added a huge amount to that experience. Highly recommended. Thanks mate. Love your work.
Excellent tour from start to finish. Small group made it more personal. Our guide Adam was amazing. So knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. A shout out to Neville our incredible guide on the river cruise which was really informative and beautiful. We had a brilliant time and will recommend to everyone coming up to Darwin. Thanks guys.
My husband and i both did 2 tours with this family run business. First to kakadu and second tour to litchfield national park. Our tour guide Neville (Nifty) was just the best tour guide we have had. Full of knowledge, new everybody’s name straight away, just a top bloke. Highly recommend both tours and tour guide. The tour felt more personalise being in a 12 seater commuter bus than in the big coach buses.
Thank you Neville.
We went on this trip on Saturday 10 June 2017. Our guides Kim and Neville were fantastic and very knowledgeable. The small group size made the whole trip more personal, and luckily we got to share this experience with a great group of people. Loved the rock art at Ubirr, and the stories Kim and Neville shared with us there, and the amazing lunch they put on for us in such a unique place. The cruise on East Alligator River with a short stop into Arnhem Land was breathtakingly beautiful. Our Aboriginal guide Gleeson was fantastic, and his knowledge of the land and the many uses for the various trees we saw along the riverbanks, gave us a new found appreciation for the land and its people. Added bonus was the crocodiles and birds we saw along the way, and watching Gleeson’s spear throwing in action! Couldn’t recommend this trip enough. The only downside is we wished we had more days to spend in Kakadu to really appreciate all it has to offer.
We had an absolutely brilliant day with Neville from Offroad Dreaming who took us to Litchfield National Park, visiting three waterfalls and having lunch at one of them. Lunch was very good catering for vegetarians as well as meat lovers. we only had ten of us on the tour which was really good as were able to here Neville passing on his knowledge of the area. The tour ended with a cruise along the Adelaide river with Pat who showed us a number of crocodiles, and what he didn’t know about crocodiles was not worth knowing. A great day was had by all. Thanks Nev.
We have just had the most wonderful day with Neville visiting Kakadu. I was worried one day wouldn’t be enough but saw magnificent rock art and had a river cruise with a young but very informative local aboriginal guide on the East Alligator River. We saw plenty of salt water crocs, water birds and other local wildlife. Plenty to give you a great impression of this wonder region. Neville is very knowledgeable and the with a small group you can learn a lot.
From the time our tour guide picked us up until she dropped us of the day was full of everything you needed.
We saw Termite mounds, Waterfalls and nature at its best. The lunch provided was beautiful and there was plenty of it.
The day was topped of with a visit to meet the original “Crocodile Dundee” Matt was really a blast from the past, from his knife to his gun on his hip he was a true Aussie bushman, and his passion for the crocodile was fantastic. We saw jumping crocs around 6 meters long jumping for chicken carcasses and coming up close and personal.
A great day.
We have just returned from a nine day Kimberley Tour along the Gibb River Road with Neville as our tour guide. Rather that spend thousands of dollars gearing up our own vehicles for the very rough road conditions we elected to use Off road Dreaming.
We started the tour in Kunnunarra and were picked up by Neville at our Hotel. The 4×4 tour bus was fantastic fitted out with an off road trailer and all the camping gear included.
Neville is also a wonderful cook so we had three great meals a day as well as snacks and plenty of cold water. His knowledge of the areas we visited was extensive. His respect for the Aboriginal people and their land was outstanding. He knew every tree and bird by name as well as the Geology of each George we visited. Our safety was his top priority as well as making sure we were all having fun. He is so patient and caring never getting frustrated when we took to long to get back on the bus to keep the schedule reasonably on time.
After an amazing trip he took us to Broome on the last afternoon for the most incredible sunset along with another surprise beer wine and more food to enjoy our last hour of the tour before he dropped us off at Cable Beach Resort. If you are able to put together a family group or a good bunch of friends i would encourage you to book with Neville and his team rather than do it on your own.
We learnt so much more about the area and the people that occupy the land making this a trip of a lifetime made all the better using Off Road Dreaming.
From picking us up from our hotel in Kununurra to watching the sunset at Cable Beach in Broome 9 days later, this holiday was incredible! Our guide, Neville, was prepared for everything – food, camping gear, bush walks, and not to mention endless questions from the 5 kids (8-year-old twins, 11, 15, 17) and 4 adults on the trip. We started by travelling from Kununurra to Purnululu National Park, where we spent 2 nights in the Bungle Bungles. They were awesome, particularly the sunsets, and the rest of the holiday continued to amaze our whole group. Along the rough, bumpy Gibb River Road, we did some spectacular walks, all of which ended with a swim in beautiful gorges, each one seeming prettier than the last! An aspect of the trip that everyone raved about was the food – ‘Nifty Nev’ never failed to provide a feast that puts Masterchef to shame (some examples include Thai chicken stir-fry, grilled fish – cooked on the campfire – over a bed of sweet potato mash, and naked burgers with lettuce). Would highly recommend!
