Our tour guides love the Katherine region for it’s extensive hiking, the incredible Katherine Gorge, and the broad range of activities people of any age and fitness level can experience in the region.

Deb says, “If we talk about the region, [one of her favourite places] would have to be these huge, beautiful sandstone cliffs of Katherine Gorge and how insignificant you feel when you’re standing there looking up at these 75 feet high cliffs. And in the wet season, there’s plenty of water coming down.”

“You’ve got a good probability of seeing freshies [freshwater crocodiles]”, Nev says. He adds, “You’ve got the option of canoeing as well.”  

Dan points out it’s got great accessibility, hiking, and you simply can’t beat Katherine Gorge for it’s mountain biking trails – which Dan hopes Kakadu develops more of at some time in the future as he loves his mountain biking.

You’ve got impressive and easy to get to natural attractions like Edith Falls, a stunning swimming spot at the right time of the year. The surrounding Nitmiluk National Park is vast, rugged, and immensely beautiful. It’s a real surprise to many visitors and an experience not to be missed if you’re visiting the N.T.
